Please join with us for our first Austin VA Community Mental Health Summit. The theme this year is #BeThereAustin- Joining Together to Enhance the Lives of our Veterans, Service Members, and their Families. We NEED your expertise and creativity as we look to create next steps that we can take as a community toward this end.
This year, the Central Texas VA Health Care System will be partnering with the Austin Mayor’s Office to invite and engage representatives from an array of groups from the private and public sectors- corporations, local businesses, artists, food services, social organizations, and more- basically groups and people that are present in the everyday lives of our Veterans – where they live, work, play, and learn.
In the morning, Mayor Adler will be giving a special address regarding the vision for the Mayor’s Challenge to Prevent Veteran Suicide, immediately followed by a guided small group discussion to think creatively about ensuring that Austin is a place where Veterans, Service Members, and their families can not only survive, but thrive.
Following a FREE lunch, VA leadership will be giving updates on key Veteran Services including the MISSION Act, followed by afternoon sessions covering an array of topics including
- PTSD & Moral Injury
- Whole Health & Resiliency
- Family Relationships
- Military Culture
- Holistic Approaches to Chronic Pain Management
- Social Media and Ethics
The Summit is FREE and lunch will be provided. We are providing tables for those wishing to bring materials and information about their programs/services.
No matter your role in our Community, we NEED your unique perspective and expertise. Please RSVP by August 9th, 2019- space is limited.
